Description

Florence Bag is worked seamlessly from the top down. First, a stockinette stitch edge is worked, then the sides of the bag are worked in the round in lace pattern. The bottom is worked in lace pattern with decreases. Finally, a lining is sewn and then sewn into the bag and a leather strap is attached. The accompanying purse is worked from the top down. The bottom is sewn together with Kitchener Stitch. Finally, a lining is sewn and then sewn into the purse.

The pattern includes the sewing instructions for the lining.

Begin by knitting a swatch to find out which needle size will give you the correct gauge. Wash and block the swatch before measuring gauge.

Bag: Circumference: 48 (58) cm [19 (22¾) inches]

Height: 18 (22) cm [7 (8¾) inches]

Purse: 15 x 9 (18 x 11) cm [6 x 3½ (7 x 4¼) inches]  

Gauge: 18 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in lace pattern on 3.5 mm [US4] needles

Needles: Circular needles: 3.5 mm [US4] / 40 cm [16 inches]; Double-pointed needles: 3.5 mm [US4]
